Welcome to Bio Town Ag. We are one of a new breed of emerging
farming operations with a new model of agricultural production. That
model is both environmentally and financially sustainable.
We are a multigenerational farm with livestock operations of 4,500-head beef cattle and 800-head sow and swine. We use only natural, antibiotic-free and hormone-free feed for our livestock. We are proud that a national brand of natural beef products markets some of our beef to U.S. consumers.
Beyond the production of pork and beef, our operation includes an anaerobic digester that recycles animal waste and other organic by-products to produce methane gas. We use the gas to power three generators, producing about 2500 kilowatts of electricity that goes back into the electric grid.
Other co-products of the digester process include liquid organic fertilizer and some useful solids. For example, our process yields potting soil, as well as a bedding material that we use in the cattle pens to absorb more waste.
We drink the water from beneath this farm. We are about the business of developing truly environmentally sustainable processes within agricultural production, and we are excellent stewards of the environment. Our livestock operations are zero-discharge CAFOs that are compliant with EPA regulations and permitted by IDEM.
